The goal of our Assertiveness Training seminar is to enable participants to learn to express their rights, requests, opinions, and feelings honestly, directly, and appropriately without violating the rights and self-esteem of others.

Each Assertiveness Training Institute training seminar begins with a self-assessment that enables individuals to understand their personality. We delve into each person’s strengths, weaknesses and stress areas to help people understand what makes them “tick.” We then begin the process of enabling participants to understand how to communicate more effectively with others. Through various activities and assertiveness training exercises, participants then begin to recognize other communication styles and the best way to communicate to them. Here is when the process of becoming more assertive truly takes shape – by understanding the needs of other communication styles, participants learn how to express their opinion and stand up for their interests regardless of who they are dealing with.

Assertiveness Training Seminar Tips - 5 Awesome Ways to Develop an Assertive Personality

There is no age limit to assertiveness. If you want to know some effective tips on being assertive, then this article is for you.

Being assertive comes with a lot of perks. You become the center of attention. Your ideas are often heard. And most of the time, you get what you want.

Unfortunately, assertiveness doesn't come naturally to everybody. A lot of people actually grow up withdrawn, insecure and unmotivated. However, there are tips on being assertive that can give your personality a jump start.

1) Try New Things.

Sometimes, you just have to take a giant leap. No second thoughts. No hesitation. Don't give yourself time to be antsy about it. Try new things that you never thought you'd ever do.

Go biking, hiking or even bungee jumping. Not only does it give you something to talk about, it also shows how much more you can do when you make a decision to do it.

2) Make New Friends.

One of the top tips on being assertive involves broadening your social circle. Making new friends will definitely boost your assertive level.

Of course, going up to a total stranger can be very intimidating (and dangerous) so why don't you start by meeting up with friends of friends? Socializing with a different set of peers can help you gauge just where you are in the assertiveness scale.

3) Learn Something New.

Learning something new gives you the confidence to go after your goals and ambitions. It doesn't have to be something major. You can either take a cooking class from the community center or learn a new language via the Internet.

4) Dress to Impress.

One of the unique tips on being assertive is by dressing the part. Wearing mousy clothes will do nothing for your demeanor. Make the effort to dress a little better the next time you go out. Even if you don't feel assertive yet, you can at least fake it until you make it.

5) Choose Your Role Model.

Having a role model can help you become assertive. After all, you're looking at someone who already knows what it feels like to go through what you're going through. Seeing how successful that person is right now will do wonders for your psyche.

These are just a few helpful tips on being assertive. Whether you follow them or not depends on how ready you are to undergo change. The thought of putting yourself out there can be a little daunting, of course, but keep in mind that bravery is not the absence of fear. It is facing life head on despite the fear.
